Deepen Bista is a PhD student at the University of Warsaw conducting his research under “Marie Curie Initial Training Network under the 7th European Community Framework Programme” at the Institute of International Relations. Prior to joining the Tension project, he had extensively worked in development sector for more than a decade with various INGOs and NGOs in Nepal such as the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and United Nations Development Programme. His expertise mainly focuses on peace, conflict, education and socio-economic development and sustainable community development.
In addition, he was also involved in various research and academic teaching activities. From 2005 to 2007, he worked with the policy think tank IDMS-Nepal to conduct research on “Public Private Partnership and Investment Climate for ITC Sector in Nepal”. He also worked with EU/UNFPA in 2004, to conduct research on, “Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in South Asia-Nepal”. In regard to academic teaching, he was associated with Orbit International College, Times Business School.
Mr Bista holds Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Pokhara University. He is also a fellow recipient of South Asian Youth Leadership under SIT-CONTACT South Asia programme, conducted by School of International Training, USA.
